Valentine’s Day Encouragement

Valentine’s Day is a time when people show feelings of love, affection and friendship. It is celebrated in many ways worldwide and falls on February 14 each year. This day is named for a Christian martyr and dates back to the 5th century, but has origins in the Roman holiday Lupercalia. More information from Wikipedia

I just want to use this opportunity to encourage those who are celebrating the day with their partner(husband and wife) or alone (Single or widow/widower). Below are the scriptures to encourage us to focus on Him that is more than able, the one that has loved us and this love makes Him to send His only begotten son to die for us. For how much greater love than this for a man to lay down His life for his friend – John 15:13. Let’s all live each day with the love of God.

For Couple

1. Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. – Philippians 1:6

2. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. – 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

3. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. – 1 Peter 4:8

4. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. – Ephesians 5:33

For Widow/Widower

1. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you. – Hebrews 13:5
2. But the needy will not always be forgotten, nor the hope of the afflicted ever perish. – Psalm 9:18
3. And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen. – Matthew 28:20
4. May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you. – Psalm 33:22
5. But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you. Psalm 39:7
6. For you have been my hope, O Sovereign LORD, my confidence since my youth. – Psalm 71:5
7. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands. – Psalm 78:7
8. The LORD will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem; the earth and the sky will tremble. But the LORD will be a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the people of Israel. – Joel 3:16

For Singles

1. Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. – Psalm 37:4
2. Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. – Proverbs 3:5-6
3. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. – Jeremiah 29:11
4. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. – Isaiah 55: 8-9

I hope that this will encourage someone. Enjoy the day and stay blessed.
